Superhuman 40 Transformation: Hilary Anderson
Last August we moved from our hometown of Denver, Colorado to enjoy year around summer fun. We had previously lived in Jupiter for 3 years (2004-2007) and returned to Colorado during the economy crash to be closer to family. A long 7 years passed before we were able to make our way back to paradise. We always said, if it’s meant to be – it will be and here we are!
I grew up being thin and running track so as I got older I didn’t give much thought about working out. In fact, I thought those people were crazy going to the gym every night. After I had children and my body changed I always knew I needed to do something, but always felt intimidated by the gym atmosphere. Last year I knew I had to do something, but getting a gym membership wasn’t my style. So I started doing the Jillian Michael’s videos in the basement on a regular basis. Once we decided to return to Florida we packed up the house and moved in with my parents for 3 months before making the journey to Florida. Things were hectic and stressful and I didn’t continue regular exercise over those 3 months. I also wasn’t seeing the results I wanted with the ‘basement workouts’ so I promised myself I would get it back together once we made our transition. Well transition was made but it still took me a while to commit to working out. After many google searches, phone calls to various places – I called CrossFit Palm Beach. I knew I wanted an intense guided workout. I thought trying boot camp would be a safe baby step for me. I was planning on taking this challenge on my own, but to my surprise my husband wanted to join me. Perfect partner to have to keep you accountable! Our first class was phenomenal! Even though the both of us were totally exhausted, we knew it was the place for us. CFPB came with 2 bonuses; 1) childcare or a place for them to hang out without issue and 2) LAUREN! Love, love, LOVE Lauren!
Not too long after we started our regular 3x/week boot camp ritual the Superhuman challenge was presented. I thought, well now that I have the consistent workout, I need to get the eating in check. Jeff wasn’t too excited to join the challenge but was very supportive and encouraged me to do it. So off I went to buy more produce and organic meats then I ever have. The first few days were a struggle. The old me would have 2-3 beers to take the edge off the work stress at the end of the day then eat something that appealed to the kids more so then me. The new me now goes to boot camp to forget the work stress then comes home to a veggie filled dinner with a tasty side of protein and fats. I knew I wouldn’t get the kids to make the transformation to eat Paleo, but Jeff was willing to give it a try here and there. I broke the rules and didn’t clean the house of the bad foods. I wasn’t too tempted to indulge with food, but did waiver on the weekends with a few vodka’s and club soda. I wasn’t perfect throughout the challenge by any means, but I had to do what worked for me. Over time, I realized beer wasn’t my friend and only made me feel terrible the next day. I started to see a transformation take place, started to feel better health wise and was ready to conquer! We celebrated 2 birthday’s (mine & Jeff’s), Mother’s Day and a visit from a co-worker in Colorado during the challenge time. This showed me I can still enjoy myself (in moderation) and continue with progressing towards my goal of a better me.
My measurements say it all – especially the neck! I also went down 2 dress sizes!
Thank you CFPB and Lauren for changing our lives in a positive direction. I can’t wait to see where we are in a year from now.
