Bacon-Wrapped Bananas!

Posted on 06. Aug, 2012 by in Recipes

I have to give credit to my girlfriend, Nikki, for coming up with this amazing combination.  We were making bacon-wrapped dates a few weeks back, and as we usually do, we were looking for ways to make the dates even better.  (If you know how good bacon-wrapped dates taste, you are probably wondering why we would even attempt to make them better, but that’s just how we roll.)   After adding almond butter and other nuts to our dates with no real success, Nikki had the great idea of wrapping the bacon around bananas instead!

WOW!  The carmelized banana and bacon combo might have been the best thing I have ever ate!  I can still remember that very first bite!  After that day it was pretty safe to say I would probably never make bacon-wrapped dates again.  (I haven’t since.)

This past weekend my brother and Dad were in town to attend the CrossFit level 1 seminar and I wanted to introduce them to these bacon-wrapped bananas.  This time, we paired the bacon-wrapped bananas with coconut milk ice cream and it was a ridiculous combination!

Disclaimer: This is a “cheat” in every sense of the word. Bacon bananas are not part of a balanced breakfast.

3 Large Bananas (Cut in 4 pieces each)

6 Slices Bacon (Cut in half)

12 Wood Toothpicks

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

You should have 12 chunks of banana and 12 half slices of bacon.

Wrap each slice of bacon around a piece of banana and stab the toothpick through both ends to hold in place.

Place each one on a aluminum foil lined baking sheet.

Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes.  Flip each piece at the 15-20 minute mark.  Let cool for a minute and enjoy!

Now you can finally say you’ve lived!
