Pumpkin Spice Workout Smoothie

Posted on 10. Dec, 2011 by in Recipes

The Pumpkin Spice Smoothie is a very well-rounded workout smoothie with a great taste of the holidays.  I use to love McDonald’s Pumpkin Spice milkshakes, but their nutritional value is light-years away from this smoothie.  Packed with 46 grams of Protein, 25g carbs, 10g fat, and 305 calories, this smoothie is perfect for hungry, worn down muscles. Pumpkin is a Paleo SUPERFOOD! It is packed with vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids. Benefits include, but not limited to: vision health and protection from cataracts, fighting off free radicals and strengthening your immune system, improved skin and prevents premature aging, anti-inflammatory properties, and protection against serious diseases such as high cholesterol, heart disease, and cancers.

1/3 can of Pumpkin

1 cup almond milk unsweetened (original or vanilla flavor, not a big noticeable taste difference either way)

1.5 tsp cinnamon (use between 1-2 tsp based on how much you love cinnamon)

1 tsp pumpkin spice (contains ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground allspice)

1 raw cage free egg (break it open first, discard shell)

1.5 scoops of vanilla whey protein powder (about 35 grams of protein)

7-9 Ice cubes (industry standard)

Blend together into a smooth, tasty pumpkin treat! Tastes extra good during the holiday season.

Sprinkle extra cinnamon on top if you really love cinnamon!
